No way!
It’s like a dentist.
This is awful!
It stinks. Oh...
Hello everyone, I'm Tomomi Itano.
I will be introducing cute things as well as the latest trends in Japan. I hope you like them.
Also...
It’s the first time I've seen a pig.
From Japan to Taiwan
Love JAPAN Project "Tomomi Itano’s JAPANeeds" in Taiwan
About three and a half hours from Tokyo. Taiwan is a popular destination for Japanese tourists.
Tomo-chan has come to Taiwan to appear in a fashion event and music program.
She will take a walk around the city during her free time. Here's the special edition of "Japaneeds" - discovering Japanese goods abroad!
What kind of Japanese goods await in Taiwan?
So cute!
It’s almost lunch time.
What is this? It’s in Japanese.
What? What?
Let’s go inside.
Welcome
Are you Japanese?
Taiwanese.
Can you speak Japanese?
A little bit.
Wow.
Omusubi Beimaru
The second Japanese goods she found was...
Omusubi (Rice ball) Beimaru
The store manager loves Japan, and after much trials, has created 20 original rice balls.
It has become one of the most popular restaurants in Taiwan.
Tomo-chan is very hungry. Which ones will she choose?
Spam
Shrimp
Peanut butter!?
This is peanut butter?
In a rice ball?
Yes.
What do you recommend?
You should try the yuzu-pepper salmon.
Pepper salmon?
Yuzu-pepper flavored salmon. The salmon is seasoned with yuzu-pepper.
Garlic salmon looks tasty too.
That’s popular too.
I’ll try those two.
And...
Also the peanut butter one.
Ok. Just a moment please.
We have miso soup and a Taiwanese drink in the refrigerator. It’s Chinese mesona tea.
Look at the color.
It’s so dark!?
It’s good. I drink it often.
What’s it made of?
Basically...weeds.
Weeds (laughs)
It’s a tea with herbal medicine.
No thanks.
Japanese rice named “Koshiibuki” which is made in Niigata, is used here.
Cooking time and the amount of water is adjusted according to the time of year,
and specially selected ingredients are molded together gently.
Wrap them up with crispy seaweed, and they are ready to be served.
Thank you.
I can eat them here.
Yuzu-pepper salmon /peanut butter /garlic salmon
Tomo-chan chose these three.
First, the popular yuzu-pepper salmon.
I’ll have the yuzu-pepper one first.
I can’t open it.
I’ll try it.
So close! That’s so close!
Just what I expected.
It tastes great.
Feels like Japan.
Next...
Wow! Look at this!
So much garlic!
Looks good.
The garlic salmon is also popular in Taiwan.
There’s a lot of garlic.
I’ll try it.
Wow!
This is delicious!
Garlic chips.
It’s like salmon rice with lots of garlic chips.
We don’t have this in Japan. They should sell these in Japan.
How do you like Taiwanese rice balls?
Although I miss Japanese rice... it’s really nice that I can eat rice here.
This is Japanese culture.
It’s just like Japanese rice.
I hope people in Taiwan like the rice balls...
...and that they enjoy Japanese culture. It would be great if it makes them want to visit Japan.
Tomo-chan seems to have liked the garlic salmon very much.
How about peanut butter?
No thanks.
