Well, that's that. As you can see, the E-Mu
Planet Earth module. This one in the middle.
That's what I was just playing.
I've got all of the others turned all the way down.
The Planet Earth is turned up, and ready for demoing.
Ok, if we press this 'Audition' button here,
there's MIDI data inside that will play back.
You get an idea of the sound. All of the units have this.
This is great. Especially for sounds arranged in kits.
Just great for giving you ideas how to play the sounds.
Very good for reference.
Like this sound, "World"
Ahh what a groove!
Awesome!
Brazilian.
Salsa!
Ah, this is, man, perfect...
...really ethnic, African vibe!
Cool!
These are just begging for something to be played on top!
VERY nice!
Kind of Indian vibe here maybe?
Cool!
Ok, let's fiddle with the knobs with this pattern playing.
You can edit various things via the knobs.
Ok, now the second row.
Attack.
Changing the attack is neat.
"Movement"
Ah, this affects the panning.
Rate.
I see.
Third row next.
"Wild"
WIld 2.
Wild 3.
Wild 4.
A lot of changes there, even the groove.
This is really interesting, don't you think so?
Fantastic!
As you see, there are a variety of different grooves in here.
That's quite nice.
And of course,
there's a huge variety of sounds too.
Pads, for instance.
Having said 'pads'... Well, obviously sort of 'ethnic' pads.
Ah, how about that? What an exotic flavor!
Very nice. This next one, plucked, perhaps?
"Celtic Harp"
Middle-eastern instruments.
Chinese maybe?
Sounds like a banjo.
Play a sort of Arabic phrase and it becomes just that.
This is GREAT!
There's even a shamisen!
Using the pitch bend works well.
That's pretty close!
Ok, plucked strings. What else do we have here?
Ah, percussion.
Let's try out the audition.
Ah! That's it!
All of this is transmitted via MIDI,
so you can put it to use in your own productions. Great!
How COOL is that? Fantastic!
Ah, I wanna use this NOW!
And I mean right away!
SO cool.
African percussion.
Awesome!
That's a SIMMONS!!!
SIMMONS!!!
Kalimba.
A kalimba is the one you play with your thumbs.
That's just great.
Yeah that's kind of a sound effect.
"Ethnic" sound effects.
This is like birds.
Oh man. This just sucks you right into the groove.
Fantastic!
This is excellent.
Man, this thing is...
I've forgotten how good this is! TIme to get to know it again!
Wow, what can I say? This really is 'EARTH'
I think you understand how good this is.
Like this sound.
Sounds like breathing or something.
So for world music, you've got all bases covered with just this one unit.
The Planet Earth!
What do you think? I think it's great!
The E-Mu Planet Earth!
