Hello, Ujiie here again.
These organ sounds are an absolute pleasure to play!
And this unit here is what I was playing.
The E-Mu, 64-voice,
Tone Wheel Organ, B3!
Ok? Second unit from the bottom here.
This is the one I'm using now.
What can I say about this?
It's awesome!
Now, actually, this whole series here,
the rack unit series by E-Mu,
and of course the B3 too,
are ROMplers. Sample-based modules.
Sampling.
Take this for example.
Sounds terrific!
Now, if you move the mod wheel...
Do you get it? The speed of the Leslie speaker changes
between slow and fast.
And it's a really smooth change too.
Listen again.
Here goes.
It's fast now.
Back to zero.
Ok? I think you get it.
Actually, there are different waveforms for slow and fast,
and it's morphing between the two.
Smoothly morphing between A and B.
It's got the sampled sounds A and B
and moves smoothly between them here.
Crossfading over time.
It's just as if a Leslie speaker was gradually slowing down,
or gradually speeding up, that kind of thing.
They did their homework here! I was really surprised!
At first I thought, "What the? Wow this rotary effect is great!"
But it's not a rotary effect!
Very nicely done indeed.
Have a look here,
it says 8 8 8 8 0 0 0 0.
This indicates the status of the drawbars.
That's what it shows.
You've got 16', 8', 1/3, 4',
2/3, etc. etc.
So the 8 shows how far the drawbar is out,
with 0 showing the drawbar unmoved.
That's what it means. And it shows what the percussion setting is.
You following me?
The 'V' here means vibrato.
Very well done!
And with the percussion setting too,
here it's set at 2/3.
And if you play legato...
...no percussion. It's the same as a real organ!
OK?
So no percussion when playing legato.
That they've gone this far with the simulation
is just great, I think.
And they've also put together just about every possible combination,
like tone wheel combinations and so on,
for a nearly unimaginable amount of sounds.
Here, like this one! A B3..
Even the noise from the Leslie speaker!
This is a lot of fun!
Very nice!
Ok, so over here, with these knobs
you can change various parameters.
Filter...
Attack...
Release...
If you change the attack & release, it sounds like a pipe organ.
So you can get it to sound like this.
You can also change the layer,
or the decay of the percussion.
And it has two effects processors.
You can make these kinds of changes to the sound.
Very nice.
As you get into the latter half of the sounds,
well, there are various things like sound effects in here too,
but you've also got what they've called "Direct" sounds.
These are the raw samples, with no Leslie or whatever on them.
Move the mod wheel and get just plain old vibrato.
What's so useful about that?
Well, right now you can get rotary speaker
or Leslie emulators, effectors, lots of those on the market.
This kind of sound is perfect to use with those things.
You know the uh, Mini Vent, about so big,
little thing, we have a demo video of that uploaded.
If you hooked that up here, yeah, very nice!
Very nice! The E-Mu B3.
64 voice.
Tone Wheel Organ.
Yeah. I feel like I've rediscovered it all over again.
The B3!
